Rocky Mount -

Danny Jordan, age 79, passed away on September 27, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd S. Jordan, Jr. and his mother, Betty L. Jordan.

He is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-eight years, Janet Ann Taylor Jordan; their three children, Jay Jordan (Erica), Jill O’Brien (Pat) and Jan Capuano (Max); nine grandchildren, Anna Jordan, Emily Jordan, Sean O’Brien (Madeline), Erin O’Brien, Danny O’Brien, Brody O’Brien, Arianna Capuano, Sofia Capuano, and Anthony Capuano. He is also survived by a brother, Jim Jordan (Cindy); brother in law, Gary Taylor (Myra) as well as a niece, two nephews and two special cousins, Mike Patrick and Donita Vanatter.

“Pop” was proud of the academic and athletic accomplishments of all his grandchildren and especially enjoyed the countless hours over the years that he spent pitching, batting practices and coaching a steady progression of baseball teams including Little League, Travel Leagues, Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth for his grandsons.

Danny graduated from Marshall University in 1968 and from there began a forty-eight year career in corporate taxation starting as a tax representative with Ashland Oil Inc., tax manager and then vice president of taxes for RH Macy and Co., Inc. in New York City, and then spending the last twenty-two years of his career before retirement as a tax director for Honeywell, Intl., Inc., in Morristown, NJ.

He was an avid Cincinnati Reds baseball fan, lifelong sports enthusiast, and an accomplished golfer who loved playing rounds with golfing buddies known as the “Grumps” and his grandsons.

Danny was an active member of the Nashville Methodist Church where he regularly attended Sunday School and served on the finance committee.
