Rocky Mount –
Danny R. Proctor, a loving husband, daddy, Pop, brother and friend went home to meet his Savior Tuesday, November 15, 2022 after a brief fight with heart disease.
His life began in Nash County on January 8, 1947, as the only son of Marvin H. Proctor and Chesley H. Proctor.
He is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 52 years, Brenda Miller Proctor; children, Josh Proctor (Darenda) of Elm City and Jessica Willis (Dave) of Spring Hope; sister, Patricia (Pat) Proctor Serfoss of Sharpsburg; grandchildren, Casey Strickland (Cole), Caitlin, Kendall, and Caleb Proctor, Victoria, Elaina, Liam, and Levi Willis; great-granddaughter, Heidi Leigh Strickland; along with extended relatives, church family and friends.
Danny operated Proctor Plumbing & Heating Company, a local second-generation business established in the mid 1950’s by his father, where he worked his entire life. He was a faithful member of Crossroads Baptist Church serving as an usher and the Sunday School Superintendent.
Danny loved to stay busy outdoors. He spent many years playing church softball as well as hunting and fishing. Not one to retire, he spent his time after work keeping his yard and enjoying grandchildren. A doting Pop and dedicated family man, he was always ready to help out a friend in need. He was always practical and predictable, ready with a flashlight, water bottles and his signature snacks. He was known for being friendly and chatty. He never met a stranger and loved to share a good story. His kindness and work-ethic were evident to all who knew him.
A service will be held Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 11:00AM at Crossroads Baptist Church, 3224 Benvenue Road, Rocky Mount. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00AM. Friends are welcome to join the family at Pineview Cemetery following the service.
