Danny Ray Trevathan

Danny Ray Trevathan, age 66, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2024, while surrounded by his family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos Roland and Janice Grimsley Trevathan.  Danny Ray is survived by his loving wife, Peggy E. Trevathan; son, Brian Ray Trevathan of Tarboro; daughter, Angela Renee Trevathan of Wilmington; sister, Nancy T. Harrison (Mike) of Tarboro; niece, Allison H. Littlefield (Jonathon); nephew, George Chase Exum, and his grand dog, Nico, and numerous cousins, extended family and friends. 

Danny Ray was a wonderful loving family man and friend. He would help anyone with anything - no questions asked. Danny was a lifelong farmer with a true love of the outdoors - hunting in his younger years, fishing, gardening, grilling and playing outside with his two children. He was a hard worker, and loved working with everyone on the farm. He proudly served as Chief of Lewis Community Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Nobody loved a good home cooked meal like him! While he was a quiet man, he was known to be a prankster with a good sense of humor. Everyone was always welcomed with a warm smile and accepting/friendly demeanor. Animals/pets also gravitated to him, even though he said he wanted nothing to do with them. He was proud to be an American.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, June 4, at 6:00 PM, at West Edgecombe Baptist Church 13821 NC-43, Rocky Mount, NC 27801. The family will receive friends immediately following the service and other times at the home.  A brief service of committal will be on Wednesday, June 5, at 10:00 AM at Edgecombe Memorial Park, 2879 US-258, Tarboro, NC 27886.
