Dean Lewis Lee, age 88, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 30, 2023 at her home. She was born on February 22, 1935 in Edgecombe County to Warren Thomas and Ida Norville Lewis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Allene Lewis Braddy, Frances Weathersbee and Ethel Bryant.

Dean was a natural artist and craftswoman, trying her hand at many endeavors from furniture finishing to wallpapering. No project was too big or too burdensome once she made up her mind to take it on. Sewing, painting, crafting, cooking....Dean was talented and self taught in many areas, always looking for ways to make home more comfortable for her family. When she wasn't crafting at home, she loved fishing and spending quiet time at the beach. 

Dean is survived by a loving family including her husband of nearly seventy-two years, Pastor Calvin Lee, Sr.; daughter, Kim Lee White (Paul) of Bath; son, Skeet Lee of Tarboro; sister, Lynda Smith (Ronald) of Dunbar; brother, Charlie Lewis (Miriam) of Tarboro; special cousin, Ellen Gurganus of Tarboro and several nieces and nephews.

Dean was especially proud of and adored her grandchildren, Emily Daughety (Caine) of Ayden, Caylon Thomas White of Los Angeles, CA, Savanna White, Christopher Lee, both of Greenville, William Whichard of Hobgood, Grant Lee of Tarboro and great-grandchildren, Judah and Elias “Eli” Daughety.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at 5:30PM at Northern Boulevard Baptist Church, 502 E Northern Blvd, Tarboro, 27886. The family will receive friends immediately following the service and other times at the home.
