Nashville –
Deborah “Debbie” Beckett, age 62, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 25, 2024 at her home in Nashville, North Carolina. Her journey began in Hampton, Virginia on February 10, 1961, daughter of James Dean and Sandra Carlock Shannon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt, Linda Carlock and special family friend, Leroy Carter.
She leaves behind a treasure trove of memories for her children, Brandon Seay (Hollie) of Franklin, Va, Keith Allen Beckett (Britney) of Virginia Beach, Va, Shannon Macias (Ryan Martin) of Nashville and Allen Beckett (Carmelina) of Kentucky; brother, James “Jimmy” Shannon of Fayetteville; eleven grandchildren and her loyal canine companion, Midget. Debbie will also be missed by many friends, nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and all of the children she “adopted” as one of her own over the years.
Debbie will be remembered as a strong-willed, honest woman who held no punches with anyone. Though she be fierce, she could also be counted on to lend a helping hand no matter the circumstances. In her free time, she could be found watching crime shows, reading, or playing solitaire. She had a great fondness for the Wizard of Oz and watching hummingbirds flit around outside. She loved and cared her family deeply, especially her grandchildren and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
