Deborah "Susie" Johnson Ray, age 69, passed away Friday, August 25, 2023 at ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro, North Carolina. She was born in Norfolk, Virginia on July 14, 1954 to William and Lena Reynolds Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Danny Johnson and Billy Johnson; sister, Darlene Kaufman and cousin, David Reynolds.

She is survived by her husband of thirty-three years, Jackie Ray; daughters, Leslie Keel and husband, David and Michelle Strickland, all of Pinetops; special aunt, Frances Steins; uncle, Les Reynolds and wife, Ann of Rocky Mount; cousins, Glenn Reynolds, Mike Reynolds, Brian Reynolds and Beth Reynolds; and special friend, Janet Griffin. Susie especially adored her grandchildren, Ashley, Hailey, Nicholas, Liam and great-granddaughter, Londyn.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
