Donald Ray King, Sr.

Donald Ray King, age 74, passed away Friday morning, May 9, 2025 at his home. He was born on October 2, 1950 in Halifax County. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Warren Denton and brothers, Raymond “Buck” King and David Denton.

He leaves a lifetime of memories for his children, Jason King, Amy Housand and Donald Ray King, Jr. and wife, Megan, all of Tarboro; grandsons, Joshua King and wife, Abby, Austin Housand and Wesley Housand; siblings, Robert Denton, Jr. of Tarboro, Harold Denton and wife, Teresa of Crisp, Lois Williams and Edith Scott, both of Tarboro; loyal canine companion, Rusty; along with several nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.

Donald was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed playing golf and fishing. He also especially loved spending time with his family as their ball coach throughout the years. He assisted them with baseball, softball and football teams when needed. The time he spent with them on the field was a highlight in his life and he kept those fond memories close to his heart.

Donald was a dedicated employee of ILCO Key Systems in Rocky Mount for over eighteen years and later retired from the state of North Carolina following a six-year career delivering supplies statewide. Donald enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be deeply missed.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
