Rocky Mount -
Donna Kay Meyer, surrounded by her family, closed her eyes and opened them to eternity on the evening of October 21st, 2023. Mourning, yet with gratitude, we rejoice that she is fully healed, relieved of all pain and suffering and safe in Jesus’ embrace.
Donna was born November 4th, 1967 to Dolphus Brantley Sr. (Doc) and Elisabeth Petry Brantley. She was preceded in death by her dad, Doc, nieces April and Stephanie, nephew Chris and her mother-in-law, Janice.
Donna was a beautiful person, inside and out. She cared deeply for the people around her. She was kind and passionate. She made an impact on the lives of her family but also in the lives of strangers, especially in her job as a bail agent, a business she ran with her husband, Edward. She tried to always see the good in people and help them in what was for many, a difficult situation.
Donna was strong willed and stubborn at times, but she had an enormous heart. She was generous, loyal, and compassionate. She was clever and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was “all in” with everything she did.
Donna’s absolute greatest joy in life was her family. She loved her husband, Edward. They were the best of friends and partners in everything. She was fierce when it came to her children and immensely proud of each of them. She often said her four children were her greatest accomplishments. She was incredibly proud to also be a grandma. Mom and Memaw were her most cherished roles. She considered herself to be extraordinarily blessed.
Donna will be forever missed and cherished by her family – her husband Edward Meyer “Tiny”, daughters Kristina Lucas (Jeremy), Bethany Meyer (Braxton Bridges), Kayla Meyer (BFF& Adopted daughter Caroline Modlin) and son Tristian Gilmore. Grandchildren Kate, Cole and Chloe Lucas and Grand-dog Ranger. Mother Elisabeth Brantley, Father-in-law Charles Meyer, Brantley siblings Rickey, Danney, Jimmey, Junior, Ronney, William, Maria, Pinkey, Sissey and Joann (spouses, children and grandchildren). Meyer “sisters” – Pam, Kim and Kathryn (spouses, children and grandchildren).
A memorial service to honor Donna’s life will be held Monday, October 30th, 2023 at 11:30am in the sanctuary at Sunset Avenue Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, NC.
