Edward Lee Garner, Jr.

Edward “Ed” Garner Jr., 66 of Rocky Mount, NC passed away Saturday, June 27, 2020 at his home.  Ed was born in 1953 in Whidbey Island, Washington to the late Edward Lee Garner Sr., and Wada Lou Moore Garner.  Ed was a loving father, husband and friend. 

He was a graduate of Northern Nash Senior High.  His passion was spending time with his family.  His pastime was fast cars, especially Ford Mustangs.  He enjoyed making others laugh for hours at a time with his funny stories and jokes.  As a career, Ed was an auto body repair specialist and he had a natural talent for mixing paints without the use of charts.  In addition to his professional career, Ed spent many years of his personal time on the ball field and was known to many as “Coach Ed”.  He coached Little League Baseball and T-Ball.  He was not only their coach, but he was their mentor.  His investment of time into the lives of young men left lasting impressions.  Ed also enjoyed his time of relaxation by fishing and grilling out.

Ed leaves behind his loving wife Brenda Branch Garner; sons Justin Wade Garner (Amy) of Newton Grove, Bradford Lee Garner (Larie) of Raleigh; sister Lisa Strickland (Jim) of Washington State and two furry friends, Bubba, his dog, and Charlie, his cat also known as “Snagglepuss”.  Also left behind are many friends who he cherished and loved.  Our family will miss him greatly and we will always remember him as a great man that loved his family deeply.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
