NASHVILLE –
Ernest Leo Long, age 86, passed away Friday, May 1, 2020 at Vidant Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro. Leo was preceded in death by two sons, Audie Leo Long and James Thomas Long, as well as five brothers and four sisters.
He leaves his loving wife of eighteen years, Audrey Carpenter Long; son, Timothy Matthew Long of Clinton; step-children, Pamela Collins (Michael) of Rocky Mount, Kathy Williams (Ken) of Red Oak, and Al Harper (Wendy) of Nashville; brother, George Long of Goldsboro; sister, Joanne Parrish (Randy) of Dunn; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family friends and other extended relatives.
Leo was a wonderful husband, father, and pa. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Corinth Baptist Church, where he and Audrey have been long time members, always had a special place in his heart and he loved being a part of his church family there.
Leo’s family and friends will gather for a special time of remembrance at a graveside service, 2:00 PM, Monday, May 4 at Forest Hills Cemetery, Nashville. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.
