Evelyn Olivia Glover Phillips, age 86, peacefully entered heaven’s embrace on Tuesday, July 13, 2021.

Evelyn was preceded by her parents, Bennie and Maggie Glover; husband of sixty-five years, Donald “Dee” Phillips; granddaughter, Candice Wooten; grandson, Sam Walston; and brothers, Ben Junior and Melvin Glover.

A lifetime resident of Pinetops, “Mema” made a home that was the gathering place for family and a common space to find visiting friends.  Family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were her everything. She could be found visiting them, attending their games at the Pinetops ball field, and smiling in joy as she talked about their latest accomplishments and celebrations.

Evelyn’s legacy carries on through her children Kay (Randolph, Jr.) Cobb, Don (Connie) Phillips, Neal (Lisa) Phillips, and Susan Phillips; grandchildren; Randy (Melissa) Cobb, Allen Cobb, Bridget (Matt) Sasser, Tyler (Brooke) Phillips, Brittany (Mikel) Phillips, and Tucker (Caroline) Phillips; and great-grandchildren; Randall, Kayla & Caroline Cobb; Caleb & Ian Hadley; Jordan & Landon Crawford & Noah Sasser; Harrison & Percy Phillips; Isaiah Walston; Mattox & Sadie Rae Phillips; as well as her sister Carol Cahoon and many caring friends and extended family like Voyce Hobgood, Janice Mercer, and Marshall Harrell.

The family will receive friends following a grave-side Celebration of Life service at the Macclesfield Cemetery beginning at 10 AM on Thursday, July 15, 2021.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly to the James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital at Vidant Medical Center, c/o Vidant Health Foundation, P.O. Box 8489, Greenville, NC 27835-8489.
