Fred Joseph "Pete" Phillips, Jr., age 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 8, 2021. He was born on November 25, 1946 to Fred and Bertie Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Phillips; son, Fred Phillips; grandson, Brandon Claiborne; siblings, Bobby Phillips, Edward Phillips, and Eleanor Dinah Webber; and nieces, Ann Phillips and Sheila Phillips. 

Pete is survived by his daughters, Connie Phillips Watson (Wayland) of Tarboro, Cathy Phillips Bell (Jeff) of Pitt County, and Angela Dawn Wachowicz (Walter John) of Nash County; sister, Sherry Gibson (Pete) of Virginia; grandchildren, Jennifer Thorpe, Adrienne Phillips, Aaron Warren, Kody Scott, Jacob Wachowicz, and Tiffany Hardison; great-grandchildren, Katlin Rose Davis, Lilee Claiborne, Dawson Claiborne, Alexis Phillips, and Grayson Hardison; nieces, Bridget Phillips and Renee Clark; nephew, Carl Webber; along with a host of extended relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 1:00PM at Edgecombe Memorial Park, 2879 US-258, Tarboro, NC 27886. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
