Gaye (Wall) Mann

Rocky Mount - 

Ethel Gaye Wall Mann, 82 of Rocky Mount, NC passed away peacefully on May 21, 2022, at home.  She was born on November 06, 1939, to Bennett Lewis Wall and Myrtle Umstead Wall.

After graduating from Knightdale High School, she went on to pursue a degree in teaching at High Point University, after which she taught elementary grades for 30 years.  She met her husband, (Rev) Milton Mann, when he was her pastor at Knightdale United Methodist Church. They were married on April 20, 1962, eventually having four caring and loving children.  She loved spending time with her family. She loved family traditions (summer trips to Lake Junaluska, picnic around the Christmas tree). She was an avid reader, especially of history and trivia, and a fabulous cook. Most of all, her devotional and prayer life was unexcelled. She was a devout follower of Jesus Christ. 

She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, her children, Jennifer Mann Rhodes (Mike), Milton Thomas Mann II (Dorothy Slade Mann), Lisa Kathryn Mann Mand (Bill), and Charles Roderick Mann (Mary Kay Rizzolo Mann), and her grandchildren, Thomas Rhodes (Brinkley), Emily Thiele (Michael), Will and Bennett Grant, Liz and Thomas Mann, Bella Mann; great grandchildren, Michael and Sarah Rhodes, and her step grandchild, Tiffany Mand. She immensely enjoyed being in the company of her family, right up to the end. 

Gaye’s Memorial Service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, May 29, at First United Methodist Church, Rocky Mount. Visitation will be in the Fellowship Hall at 1:00 p.m., prior to the service. Please note: It was her special request that only casual clothes be worn to the service - no formal attire. No flowers. Instead, memorials given to the church are to be dispersed according to the prearranged manner guided by the minister.
