George Thomas Baker, Sr.

George Thomas “Billy” Baker, age 86, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, September 10, 2024, while surrounded by his family and friends. He was born to George and Effie Wells Baker on December 13, 1937. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Ray Baker; grandson, Ryan Joyner; siblings, James Baker, Elva Nichols, Dessa Corey, Robert Baker, and Elizabeth Hardee.

George is survived by his wife of  63 years, Patricia; children, George Baker, Jr., Judy Grimmer (Mark), and Lisa Baker, all of Tarboro; grandchildren, Brittany Woodard (Jeff) Natalie Baker and Mackenzie Joyner; great-grandchildren, Ryan Joyner Jr., Braylee, Mallory, Hudson and Lawson Woodard; along with nieces and nephews, other extended relatives and many family friends.

A joyous Celebration of Life and heavenly homegoing of George will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Word of Life International Church, 3388 McNair Rd, Tarboro, NC 27886. Interment will follow at Edgecombe Memorial Park, Hwy 258, Tarboro. The family will begin receiving friends prior to the service from 1:00 - 1:45pm and other times at the home. 

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all our special caregivers, family and friends who helped us through this journey. He enjoyed the time spent with each and everyone.
