George T. Moore, age 79, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday afternoon, October 25th 2020.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert L and Clara Rice Moore; sisters, Emma Hutzler, Joyce Evans, and Kaye Strickland; and brothers, Ronald Moore and Donald Moore.
George is survived by his loving family that includes his wife of 40 years, Marie Lewis Moore; children Teri Wray (Ed) of Wake Forest, Michael W. Watkins (Myra) of Krakow, Poland, and Tammie Watkins Joyner of Rocky Mount; siblings, Annette Buchan (Tucker) of Hericho and Faye Booth of Nashville.
He was especially proud of his grandchildren, Gabrielle Wray, Abigail Watkins, Rebecca Watkins, Kyle Wray, Amanda Wray; great-granddaughter, Scarlett Wray, and granddog, Luna. George will also be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, family friends and other extended relatives.
George was a faithful member, deacon and choir member of Southside Baptist Church. He was a gracious friend to many, always offering kindness, encouragement, support and a helping hand to anyone he could even into his final days. He could be found in front of his computer, working on his latest project or spreading “LOVE” around on Facebook. His unwavering faith and love for Christ and his family surpassed any earthly treasure. He was a simple man with a huge heart.
Please join family and friends to remember and celebrate George’s wonderful life on Thursday, October 29th at Southside Baptist Church. Visitation will be in the lobby at 12:00 , service in the worship center at 1:00 followed by interment at 2:30 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor George’s life with a donation to Southside Baptist Building Fund or Hospice at Nash General/UNC Healthcare.
At this unprecedented time of COVID-19, the family requests all guests practice social distancing by wearing a mask and respecting a 6’ distance. We will be offering three ways to attend the services in an effort to keep everyone healthy. The service will be available on Facebook Live on George’s page, it will be broadcast in the parking lot as well as the face to face church service.
