Sunday morning, August 22, 2021, our beloved Gordon Freeman finished his journey here and was called Home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Gordon was born December 8, 1949 in Nash County to Howard and Lizzie Gray Freeman. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Freeman, and mother-in-law, Frances Holmes.  He will be deeply missed by his loving family that includes his devoted wife, Trudy Holmes Freeman; mother, Gray Freeman of Rocky Mount; daughter, Stephanie Mikeal and husband, Derek of Spartanburg, S.C.; sister, Terry Ann Freeman of Rocky Mount: grandchildren Emery Bowling and fiancee, Taylor Sexton, and Evan Bowling of Spartanburg, S.C.; stepchildren, Charity Ruiter of Red Oak and Jesse Ruiter of Rocky Mount; step-grandchildren, Bella Davis of Red Oak and Marlee Ruiter of Cortland, Ohio; aunts, Pearl Whitehurst and Joyce Smith, both of Rocky Mount, and Gussie Gibson of Florida.  Gordon will also be missed by Trudy's family, including his father-in-law, Reverend Floyd Holmes; sister-in-law, Grace Bishop of Manteo, Martha Schneider of Columbia, S.C.; Joy Holmes and husband, Reverend Matt Holman of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother-in-law, Reverend John Holmes and wife, Merri, of Winston Salem; along with a host of family friends and other extended relatives. 

Friends and family are invited for a special time to remember Gordon's life and pay tribute to his memory at a memorial service to be held at Peoples Fellowship Baptist Church, Hwy 97, Rocky Mount, NC, at 3:00pm Saturday, August the 28th. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Facial coverings are respectfully requested.
