Harold Dixon Bass, age 77, passed away peacefully Monday morning, March 18, 2024 at The Lodge in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He was born on April 20, 1946 in Harnett County, North Carolina to Oscar and Annie Belle Phipps Bass. 

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Judith M. Bass; daughter, LaDonna Taylor (Dan), of Nashville, son, Rodney Bass (Robyn) of Rocky Mount; step-children, Teresa Brewer (Todd), of Nashville, Wayne Matthews (Natalie) of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Travis Matthews (Terri) of Wilson; sisters, Frankie Wrench and Sharion Bass and sister-in-law, Mary Bass. Harold was especially proud of and adored his grandchildren, Heather Bissette (Kevin), Tiffany Pipkin (Patrick), Brittany, Brooklynn, Cameron and Tanner Bass; step-grandchildren, Allyson and Haley Matthews  Rylee and Reagan Brewer and Dalton Matthews; three great-grandchildren, Ryan and Carson Pipkin and Paityn Bissette.

Harold was a well-known mechanic and tow truck driver at Bobbitt's Auto Supply in Rocky Mount from where he retired following more than thirty years of dedicated service. He and Judy were long time members of Arlington Baptist Church where they both enjoyed serving and working with children, and Harold often driving the church van. Born with a servant's heart, Harold was always more than willing to help in any capacity needed. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.  

A service to honor God and remember Harold's life will be held at 4:00 pm, Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Arlington Baptist Church, 1500 Bethlehem Rd, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 3:00 pm, and other times at the home.
