Helen "Othell" Adams Obituary

Rocky Mount -

Helen "Othell" Adams, 97, passed away Monday, November 22, 2021, at the Rocky Mount Rehab Center in Rocky Mount, NC.

She was born on April 21, 1924 in Mount Olive, NC, to Richard and Helen Harris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Adams; sons, Warren Adams and Dennis Adams; brothers, James and RC; and sisters, Sirdassor, Idaliah and Dorothy “Dot”.

Othell was a dedicated member of Southside Baptist Church for over fifty years. She was a tireless worker, spending half of her career working at the Shotland Mills, and the second half of her career as an entrepreneur and well-known hairdresser in Rocky Mount. Her loyal customers always enjoyed spending time with her during their visits to her salon.

Othell’s faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ was her anchor. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, especially her three generations of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She would often give long, loving hugs to those that visited her, squeezing them with all her love and strength. She will be missed and greatly remembered by all those who loved her.

Othell is survived by three sons, Dale Adams and wife, Reva of Nashville, Mitch Adams and wife, Demi of Groveland, FL, and Gene Adams of Rocky Mount; along with her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

A service to celebrate Othell’s life will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, November 30 at Southside Baptist Church with visitation immediately following. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
