James Brown Obituary

Nashville –

James Herbert Brown, age 77, graduated to his reward in heaven on September 12, 2020.  He was born on April 7, 1943 to James Edgar Brown and Mollie Freeman Brown.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, DeAnna Brown and brother, Lee Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sherry Carter Brown of Nashville; sons, Vince Brown of Wilmington and Kelly Brown of Virginia Beach; sisters, Fran Joyner of Elm City and Carolyn Joyner of Rocky Mount; brother-in-law, Blake Carter (Vickie) of Whitakers and numerous special nieces and nephews whom he dearly cherished.

James served his country in the National Guard and U.S. Army Reserves.  He retired from Life of Virginia and GE Financial Company writing insurance and mutual funds.  He enjoyed fishing and camping in his spare time.  He loved his church and enjoyed singing in the choir for many years.  James also loved Hallmark movies and spending time with his family.  There are no words that can express how much he was loved and will be missed by many from all walks of life.  Special thanks to all his caregivers and doctors at WakeMed and Transitions Life Care.
