James Leonard Holloman, 46, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025 at the ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina.

James was born March 30, 1978 in Rocky Mount, Edgecombe County, North Carolina to Melvin Alton Holloman and Cindy Joyner Holloman (deceased 1988).

James and his siblings moved to Greenville, SC with his uncle Mike and aunt Joan and attended Bob Jones Elementary, Bob Jones Junior High and Bob Jones Academy. He played trombone and participated in band, developing a love for classical music— including opera. He would listen to the Phantom of the Opera and Three Tenors for hours. He also participated in basketball and soccer.

James returned to Rocky Mount his senior year and graduated from Falls Road Baptist Church School in 1996. He attended Johnson Community College Truck Driving School and worked for 19 years as a driver with Varnell’s Custom Hauling Company.

James leaves behind his brother and best friend, Daniel Holloman, sister Michelle Briley and her husband Christopher, and nephews Christopher Briley and Justin Michael Briley, along with close friends; Wilfred Joyner, Aron Bloodworth, aunts, cousins, extended family and many friends. He will also be greatly missed by his canine companions, Bella and Boss, and his Varnell Trucking family.

James was blessed to be raised and loved by a special aunt (Joan), who loved him as a Mother loves her son. Joan and Steve Estabrook will miss James dearly.

Friends and family will gather for a special time to visit and remember James on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 1:15 pm - 2:30pm at Davis Little Funerals, 2129 Lawrence Circle, Rocky Mount, NC. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 pm at Pineview Cemetery, Rocky Mount.
