Elm City –
James Larry Owens, age 76, passed away peacefully at his home, Monday, May 1, 2023 with his family by his side. He was born on March 22, 1947 to Julius and Lillie Thomas Owens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Owens and grandson, James Michael Owens.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Owens; children, Michael Owens (Debra), Tina Michelle Owens (William Elks) of Washington and Kimberly Ann Turner of Dinwiddie, Va; sister, Judy Bradley (Gary) of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Joshua and Alisha Howell, Hannah, Summer, Hailey and Jenna Owens, Ronald Junior, Alton Ray, Jamie and Jason Gay and Corey Dickerson; 27 great-grandchildren and niece, Keisha Robinson (Brian) of Dortches.
The family will receive friends from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Fellowship of Praise Church of God, 3201 Benvenue Road in Rocky Mount 27804. The service will follow at 1:00pm with Reverend William Earp officiating.
