Janice Lewis, age 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, September 2, 2024. She was born December 30, 1954 in Nash County to William "Billy" Daughtry and Peggy Jacqueline Yeates Joyner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jackie Joyner Langley and brother, William "Jay" Daughtry Joyner. 

Her memory will be forever cherished by her daughter, McCaffity Lewis Wester (Josh); grandson, Jackson and granddaughters, Elizabeth “Ellie” Wester and Molly James Wester. She is also survived by her sisters, Ellen Joyner Taylor, Paula Lee Joyner, Ann Joyner Payne (Carl), many special nieces and nephews and “sister”, Christina Augst.

Janice lived her whole life loving her family and devoted to the Lord. She was known as "Gigi" to her precious grandbabies and great nieces and nephews. She suffered from Muscular Dystrophy and is being donated to the Duke University School of Medicine Anatomical Gifts Program for education and research. The family is requesting donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in lieu of flowers.

The family will host a Celebration of Janice’s Life on Friday, September 13th at 4:00pm at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1815 Airport Blvd. W, Wilson, NC. There will be a visitation prior to the service beginning at 3:00pm. Floral tributes should be directed to Tabernacle Baptist Church.
