Rocky Mount, NC-
James “Jimmy” Robert Waters passed on to his heavenly home on September 9, 2021. Jimmy was born on June 29, 1957, to Hilton Eugene Waters and Annie Riley Waters.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Brenda Clark Waters; son, James Alan Waters and wife, Katarina; daughter, Stacey Waters Brown and husband, Jason; Grandsons, Jackson Ellis and Owen Waters; Brothers, Thomas Waters, Michael Waters and wife, Deanna, Bryan Waters and wife, Kim; surviving aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jimmy was one of a kind. He was known for his rambunctious laugh that filled the room and his animated style of storytelling. His loved ones would be entertained at every gathering hearing him talk about his fun and mischievous, childhood adventures. He had a deep love for his family and could tell you all about his family history and lineage.
Jimmy adored the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman who jumped at the opportunity to get on the water at any chance. He also loved music. If Jimmy didn’t have a fishing pole in his hands, he had a guitar and would play for hours. He loved watching sports and cheering on his Tar Heels. Those that know and love him will never forget his signature everyday style: overalls, t-shirt, ball cap, and sunglasses.
Jimmy graduated from Tarboro High School in 1975 and worked at Cummins in Whitakers for 30 years.
A memorial service celebrating Jimmy’s life and homecoming will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 2:30 pm at Gum Swamp OFWB Church, 2072 Gum Swamp Church Rd, Greenville NC 27834. Family and friends will be received after the service in the fellowship hall.
