John Douglas "Doug" Baker, Sr.

John Douglas “Doug” Baker, Sr, age 74, passed away peacefully Monday, August 26, 2024. His journey began on May 4, 1950 in Prince George’s County, Maryland to Graham Douglas Baker and Arlene Phillips Baker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joey Baker and companion, Elizabeth Mitchell.  

He leaves a lifetime of memories for his family including his son, John Baker, Jr. (Tiffany); daughter, Kimberly Lewis (Brian), all of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Grayson Green (Chaleb) of Alabama, Cassidy Clarke (Kyle) of Middlesex and Landon and Garrett Lewis, both of Rocky Mount and great-granddaughter, Eliza Clarke. Doug will also be missed by his sister-in-law, Terri Baker; nephew, Jessie Baker (Tina); niece, Mindie Morgan (Tripp); and special neighbor and friend, Jimmy Best.

Doug was an avid outdoorsman and spent a lot of his time soaking up nature. He had a passion for fishing, was quite the golfer and also spent his time playing pool. Outside of his hobbies, he was known for his friendly nature; he could strike up a conversation with anyone and was always ready to lend a hand. Doug will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Davis-Little Funerals, 2129 Lawrence Circle, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 5:00pm.
