John's journey began September 9, 1938 as a son born to Donald Monroe and Ethel Taylor Jones in Roane County, West Virginia. He was a proud veteran having served his country honorably in the United States Navy and retiring as Senior Chief Petty Officer after a twenty year career. He is survived by a loving family that includes four children: Carol Arnold (Cecil) of Morehead City, Chris Jones (Mary) of Pinetops, Mike Jones (Elizabeth) of Pasadena, MD, and Cathy Rose (Dennis) of Rocky Mount; siblings, Melvin Jones and Mildred Lane, both of Spencer, W.Va, and Sue Cuppett of Huntington, W.Va. He was especially proud of his grandchildren, Ashley Taylor (Jonathon), Austin Arnold (Tejhy), Allison Jones (Justin), Rebecca Arnold, Ryan Jones (Emily), Rebecca Hammel (John), Melody and Marstin Jones, Tanner, Josh, and Lexi Rose; and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Caroline Taylor, Capri and Esmie Arnold, Davis Jones, and Joey Hammel.
