Larry Moore Obituary

Pinetops -

Larry Moore, age 74, passed away at his home on January 12, 2024, while surrounded by his family.  His life began on November 22, 1949, born in Wilson County to Selby and Ruby Barnes Moore.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Heath.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Ann Batts Moore; children, Chris Varnell (Tracee) of Conetoe, Dana Moore of Holly Ridge, Troy Moore (Becky) of Holly Ridge, Nikki Warren (Travis) of Macclesfield, Russell Moore (fiancé, Scarlette) of Pinetops; grandchildren, Tiffany Varnell, Ryan Varnell, Brett Varnell (fiancé Brycelinn), Maddison Moore, Jackson Moore (Caroline), Will Moore, Aiden Moore, Manning Andrews (Alex), Zachary Wainwright (Mackenzie), ShyAnn Warren Haston Warren (Lindsey), Lennon Moore, Brilynn Harrell, Mason Moore, Sawyer Moore; and great grandchildren, Carson Andrews, Ares Andrews, Lara Andrews, and Rhett Warren; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Heath; brother and special next-door neighbor, Marshall Harrell "Moore".

Larry loved well.  He especially loved his wife, Ann, whom he adored with his whole heart and soul.  If you saw Larry, Ann was always by his side enjoying their favorite pastimes, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  They blended a family of 5 children with the greatest example of love, respect and commitment that parents could give.  He welcomed people as friends instead of strangers.  If you were in his presence, you were included and you were family.  He looked to the needs of others.  He loved in action.  Most of his free time was spent in service to others.  He loved to cook and share his meals with people from all walks of life.  He opened his home and heart to others and built strong bonds with those around him.  If you had a conversation with Larry, he listened, he cared and he uplifted.  He was patient, he was humble, and he was kind.  He was the fixer of all things, and he was passionate about his wife’s honey-do list.  He spent his final days surrounded by the love of his life; his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and one special brother, Marshall.  This dear man left this world with a smile, a family well loved, and with boundless joyful memories and good times.  To know him was to respect him solely by the way he cared and treated others.  Larry, affectionately called Papa by all who loved him was truly a treasure, a man like no other.  Everyone that wants to remember Larry is asked to celebrate his life in their own way.  Raising a drink in his memory would be quite appropriate.

The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, you may consider memorial donations in honor of a very special person, Pamela Lepera, DO, to the Leo W. Jenkins Cancer Center, Building 600, Moye Blvd., Greenville, NC 27834.
