Leigh “Angel” Pope, age 61, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 10, 2025. She was born on May 29, 1963 in Buncombe County. She grew to become a devoted wife, daughter, mother, sister, Gigi and especially beloved teacher.

Angel was a member of Ralph L.  Fike High School Class of 1981 and went on to earn a master’s degree in education. She enjoyed a thirty plus year career as an educator in Nash County, cultivating a special connection with middle school students and making many life long friends along the way.

She leaves many treasured memories for her husband of twenty-eight years, Rick Pope; children, Forrest Hinton (Ashley) of Durham, Christian Watson (Kyle) of Scotland Neck and Garrett Hinton of Rocky Mount; father, Randolph Daniel of Battleboro; brother, Randy Daniel (Cathy) of Wilson; grandchildren, Darcy, Beau and Wolfgang Watson; mother-in-law, Mary Pope of Rocky Mount; along with several other extended relatives and family friends.

A memorial service will be at 2:00pm on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at NorthSide Church, 1660 Beaver Pond Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
