Linda "Dale" (Marks) Cockrell

Dale Cockrell, age 69, passed away Friday evening, March 26, 2021 at Wilson Medical Center in Wilson, NC. Dale was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Henry and Addie J. Marks; siblings, Ann Carter, Glenn Marks, and Joe Henry Marks, Jr.; and brothers-in-law, Raymond Carter and Ferdie Mangum.

She leaves a lifetime of wonderful memories for her devoted family that includes her husband of fifty-two years, Johnny "Big Johnny" Cockrell, Sr.; sons, Johnny Mack Cockrell, Jr. (Randi) of Bailey, and Michael Dale Cockrell of Sharpsburg; siblings, David Marks (Faye) of Whitakers, Nancy Marks Jones (Ernest) Rocky Mount, Edith Bone of Virginia, and Betty Mangum of Wake Forest. Dale was especially proud of her grandchildren, Justin Cockrell, Casey Cockrell, Kristina Fields, and Ember Cockrell; and great-granddaughter, SaNiya Bunn. She was blessed with the lifelong love and friendship of her special friend, Dare Ford of Elm City. She will also be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.

An evening service to celebrate Dale's life will be held at 7:30 pm, Monday, March 29, 2021 at The Church of God, 2129 Lawrence Circle, Rocky Mount. Burial will follow at 12:00 pm, Tuesday, March 30 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service beginning at 5:30 pm, and other times at the home of Johnny and Randi Cockrell.
