ROCKY MOUNT –
Early Monday morning, October 5th, 2020, Margie Boone Walker finished her wonderful journey here on earth at the age of 90. She passed away peacefully at her home with her loving family by her side.
Margie’s journey began in Edgecombe County, NC on May 31, 1930 as the youngest child of George Lee and Myrtie Frazier Boone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Richard Walker; sister, Elizabeth Boone King; brothers, William Boone, George Lee Boone, and Julian Green Boone; and great-great-granddaughter, Tenley Faye Phelps.
Margie leaves a lifetime of treasured memories for many who loved her, especially her children, Charles Richard Walker, II (Cheryl) of Cape Carteret and Linda Walker Barnhill (Ricky) of Red Oak.
Her circle of love was full and growing with a host of beloved grandchildren including Rick Barnhill, Jr., Kevin Lee Barnhill, (Sandra), Charles Richard “Charlie” Walker, III; great-grandchildren, Tresa Barnhill Barbour (Jason), Lauren Barnhill Phelps (Trevor), Lee Barnhill, Jr. (Kristen Batchelor), Charles R. “Richie” Walker, IV, Corwin “Winn” Walker; and great-great-grandson, Tolston McKinely Phelps.
Margie’s life was truly enriched with the special love and care from a devoted team of caregivers that include Annie Battle, Kathy Batts, Barbara Owens, Pearl Phillips, Peggy Aycock, and Cynthia Hussey; as well as Donnie Dale who gave Margie hours of enjoyment by keeping her yard and flower beds fresh and beautiful. She will also be greatly missed by many family friends and other extended relatives.
While floral tributes are appreciated, those wishing to honor Margie's memory with memorial contributions are asked to consider Parkwood Baptist Church, 1731 Hunter Hill Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
Please join family and friends to remember and celebrate Margie’s life at Parkwood Baptist Church, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 10th. Interment will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m., and other times at the home.
