Mary Louise "Lucy" Lancaster Alexander Harper
Mary Harper, age 86, died February 12, 2020. She was born in Nash County on November 3,1933 to Roy Lancaster and Mattie Green Lancaster. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Debra Cooper; and Kenneth Stancell, father of Debra, Theresa, and Margaret. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Clyde Leslie Alexander and husband, Willis Laverne Harper.
She is survived by her daughters, Theresa "Resa" Stancell Eason (Ronald); Margaret Stancell Hayes (Kenneth), son-in-law, Walt Cooper; grandchildren: Chris and Ricky Cooper and Candace Hayes; and great grandchild, Clarissa Cooper. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Lancaster Bulluck; stepdaughter, Pat Alexander Lawrence; and step-grandchildren, Kathy Lawrence, and Chip Lawrence.
Lucy loved working in her yard, decorating for ALL holidays (especially Christmas), reading, shopping all day long (buying little gifts to hand out to anyone she saw), and cooking some interesting concoctions.
She graduated from Whitakers High School and attended Campbell University. She worked with the Rocky Mount Chamber of Commerce, CS Henry Transfer, and the American Lung Association. She also worked very hard bringing up 3 lively daughters!
Family and friends will gather at Lucy’s home for a special time of remembrance and fellowship on Saturday, February 15, from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. A private ceremony will take place at a later date.
