Hobgood -
Michael Allen Sipe, age 64, passed away peacefully at his home Friday afternoon, March 27, 2020. He leaves a lifetime of treasured memories for his devoted wife, Delphia Sipe; mother, Margaret Wagner Sipe of Embro; daughter, Sterling Heather Sipe of Warrenton; step-son, Bobby Wheeler of Speed; brother, C.S. Sipe of Macon; mother-in-law, Nina Lee of Speed; grandchildren, Tristyn Sipe and Chase & Anna Wheeler; maternal uncle, Thomas P. Wagner of Embro; along with a host of family friends, neighbors, and extended relatives.
Mike enjoyed his job as an Environmental Health Specialist with the Edgecombe County Health Department. He made many friends there and retired after thirty years of service.
Mike loved his family and friends and his church, but he loved his Savior more than anything. His sudden illness took us by surprise, but his unshakable faith did not. He accepted his diagnosis with grace and dignity, knowing he would soon see his Jesus face to face. He often said if he could have one glimpse of Heaven, he wouldn't be worth a nickel down here. Mike understood that his healing was coming and along with it, the indescribable joy that would come with being in the presence of his Savior. He was a loving husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, and dear friend who will be missed tremendously. And while the ache of his absence will pierce the hearts of those who loved him, the reassurance of his salvation and seeing him again is a gift far more valuable than anything else.
Due to the unfortunate circumstances stemming from the current COVID19 pandemic, a private service will take place with immediate family only.
