Myra (Smith) Murray

Myra Smith Murray, age 101, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 29, 2024 at her home. She was born in Nash County, North Carolina on December 3, 1922 to Exum and Maggie Williams Smith. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Bruce Murray. 

Myra was a former member of Sharpsburg Baptist Church. A housewife and member of various ladies organizations, she was a loving mother, sister, and true friend to many. She was a lady of strong faith who shared her love for the Lord with others. She will be forever missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Bruce Wayne Murray and wife, Brenda of Sharpsburg; daughter, Brenda Daniel; grandson, Justin Daniel, both of Annapolis, Maryland as well as several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. 

A Celebration of Myra's Life will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 11:00am at Pineview Cemetery, Rocky Mount. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. 

The family would like to especially thank the staff of UNC Health Care Hospice and her personal caregiver for the delicate care and compassion they provided.
