Patricia "Patsy" (Pullen) Dickens

Patricia "Patsy" Pullen Dickens, age 83, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, December 23, 2021. A native of Rocky Mount, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Zorah David Pullen.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Milton Dickens; her daughter, Ann Dickens Ess (David) of Rocky Mount; and her grandchildren, Samuel David "Sam" Ess, Eli Thomas Ess, and Molly Ann Ess.

Patsy worked in banking prior to becoming a mom and returned to the field when her daughter went to school.  She retired as an Administrative Assistant in the Trust Department of Centura Bank in 1997 following the birth of her first grandchild.  Patsy will be most remembered as a dedicated wife, mother and “Gran”. She had a gift for making her family feel special whether it was cooking a favorite meal, showing up to every sporting and school event, hosting sleepovers, or stocking her kitchen with favorite snacks. She leaves a lifetime of memories for her children and grandchildren. Patsy was an active member of Englewood United Methodist Church. She attended the Wesleyan Sunday school class and volunteered on several committees including altar guild, bereavement, and blanket ministry. Special thanks goes to Patsy’s church family. Over the past three years of her illness, they continued to call, visit, send cards, flowers and meals.

Visitation with family will be Sunday, December 26, 2021 beginning at 2:00PM at Englewood United Methodist Church, 300 S Circle Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. A memorial service will be held at the church following visitation at 3:00 PM with Rev. Terry Williams officiating.
