Raymond Worrell

Raymond Earl Worrell, age 82, passed away Friday evening, January 23, 2026 at Nash UNC Health Care in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.  He was born on June 2, 1943, in Newark, NJ to Bruce and Daisy Warbritton Worrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ray Worrell, Jean Bobbitt, and Jonathan Worrell; and infant brothers, Roy and Jesse Worrell.   

He was well known and highly skilled in his professional trade as a painter, working all along the east coast of the United States. Raymond was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting and fishing and wasn’t satisfied unless he was outside. He took every opportunity to socialize with old and new friends alike, and made sure everyone knew about his dogs at home, Lu Lu and Prancey. He held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, Courtney and Brittany, and more than anything, his wife, Ramona.                                                                                               

He is survived by a loving family that includes his wife of forty-eight years, Ramona P. Worrell; children, Earl, Rebecca, Mark, and Troy; stepchildren, Ryland, Rebecca, Ashley; siblings, Bruce Jr., Robert, George, Buck, Tommy, Charlotte, and Marie; special daughter-in-law Melinda, numerous grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews, family friends, and other extended relatives. 

In lieu of flowers, you may consider memorial donations in memory of Raymond to Ridgecrest Worship Center, 1120 West Mount Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27803.

The family will receive friends 10:00 - 11:30 am, Thursday, January 29, 2026 at Davis-Little Funerals, 2129 Lawrence Circle, Rocky Mount. Committal and graveside services will be private.
