Robert Ellis Corbitt, 87, of Sharpsburg, NC passed away peacefully in his home while surrounded by family on Friday, March 7, 2025.He was born February 14, 1938 to Ottie L. and Eva Mae Corbitt. He was preceded in death by his parents, son William (Bill) Corbitt and sister Azilee Meredith.
Robert served in the U.S. Army for 25 years. He retired to NC where he worked at Abbott Labs for many years. He also owned Corbitt Motor Sports. His teams-the 07, L2, and L3 raced primarily at County Line Raceway in Elm City for many years. He was a hard working man who loved working on cars with his son, Ken.
Robert loved his family and always made sure they were well cared for.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 63 years Sandra Corbitt, two sons Robert and Kenneth Corbitt, daughter Wanda (Richard) Patterson, brother Donald (Margaret) Corbitt, two sisters Annette Corbitt and Josephine Tatum, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and much extended family.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8pm on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Davis-Little Funerals, 2129 Lawrence Circle, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. Funeral Mass will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 331 Hammond Street, Rocky Mount, NC with military honors immediately following the service.
