Pinetops -
Early Tuesday morning, November 7, 2023, our beloved husband, dad, brother, PawPaw, and dear friend finished his journey here on Earth and was called Home to his Savior.
Christopher “Shane” Barber was born in Halifax County on April 13, 1973 and was preceded in death by his father, Frank Barber; mother, Faye Privette and brothers, Robbie Wiggins and Marlon Barber.
He leaves a lifetime of cherished memories for his wife of twenty years, Shannon Taylor Barber; children, Christopher Gardner (Candice Bell), Katherine “Tic” Barber (Alexander Arias), Jody Barber, all of Pinetops, Ashley Barber of Greenville and Justin Bell (Hollie) of Hobgood; sister, Pam Davenport (Kenny) of Tarboro; brother, Keith Barber (Kim) of Rocky Mount; and mother-in-law, Joan Taylor; his beloved young grandson, Asher Arias; along with many special friends, including his buddy, Tom Wooten and close friend, Jerry Abrams, who was much like a brother for most of their lives.
Uncomplicated and genuine, Shane was a friend to many and known for his selflessness and devotion to family and friends. As a teenager, he went to work with his boyhood friend, Jerry, and remained a vital part of the Abrams family business for thirty-seven years. His cooking talents were known far and wide and savored by countless catering customers over the years. He had a knack for listening and being the "friend" or "brother" anyone needed. He was a hard worker and proud to be a part of a strong family business that gave him the opportunity to enjoy a successful career with many wonderful friendships along the way. Everyone who knew him would agree, Shane was truly one of the 'good ones', and led an impactful life that will be deeply missed.
Please join family and friends as we gather to remember and celebrate Shane's wonderful life, Monday, November 13, 2023 at Avalon Baptist Church, 3227 Old Battleboro Rd., Rocky Mount. Visitation starts at 11:00 am, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 pm.
