Steven Mitchell Hughes, age 69, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Nash UNC Health Care in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He was born on May 12, 1954 in Edgecombe County to Hunter and Lula Colbert Hughes, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by his children, Mitchell Hughes (Sandy) of Rocky Mount, Frances Tevepaugh (James), also of Rocky Mount and Stephanie Keel (Walter) of Tarboro; sisters, Carol Teeters (Danny) of Collingsville, Texas and Beth Hughes of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Hunter Hughes, Amber and Alex Tevepaugh and Kaylee and Kamden Owens; great-grandchild, Genesis Crooks; along with other extended relatives.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
