Sylvia B. Strickland

Rocky Mount - 

Sylvia B. Strickland was reunited with her Savior on December 17, 2023. She was born in Nash county on February 1,1945 to Fred Hubert And Elsie S. Boone. She worked for Carolina Telephone & Telegraph and Positive Action for Christ before finding her passion as a school secretary at Falls Road Baptist Church School, Faith Christian School, and Greenfield School.

She is survived by her husband of nearly sixty years, Mel Strickland and her daughters, Robin Willams of Red Oak and Amy Bennett of Raleigh along with their husbands, Todd Williams and Sean Bennett. Her grandchildren, who affectionately called her GG, are: Anne Claire Houck of Bangor, Maine and husband Jon, Whitaker Bennett of Raleigh, and Cooper Williams of Red Oak.

The family is very appreciative of the compassionate nature of Dr. Doug Boyette as well as all of the staff with his Hospice team. In addition, the family is grateful for the many years of support from Dr. Paul Bondy and Dr. Allen Marshall.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 10:00am at Pineview Cemetery, Rocky Mount, NC with Dr. Steve Braswell officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Nash Hospice, 2460 Curtis Ellis Dr., Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
