Thomas Trayer Obituary

Thomas “Tommy” Ray Trayer, age 66, of Nash County, North Carolina, transitioned peacefully on January 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Tommy was a beloved son, brother, father, husband, and friend whose laughter, warmth, and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew him. He had an incredible sense of humor and a heart made for kindness. Whether he was lending a helping hand, sharing a funny story, or simply sitting quietly, Tommy had a way of making everyone feel at ease.

He had a deep love for nature and found true joy in fishing — especially those peaceful days spent on the pier fishing, where time seemed to slow down and the world around him felt calm and perfect. His love for animals and the outdoors reflected the goodness and empathy that defined his life.

Most of all, Tommy adored his family. Time spent with them was what he cherished most, whether at family gatherings, or small get-togethers where love, laughter, and memories were made. His quick wit and playful humor will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever be felt in every story shared and every moment by the water.

At the time of passing, Tommy was surrounded by his devoted mother, Irene “Becky” Callahan, his sister, and his brother. Tommy’s loving wife, Beverly Jean Whitley Trayer, recently preceded him in death.

Arrangements are pending and will be posted once confirmed.

His family finds comfort knowing that his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him — and in the peaceful rhythm of the waves that echo his soul.
