Thurman Parker Obituary

Pinetops -

Thurman Glenn Parker, 49, of Pinetops, NC passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Thurman was born in Hobgood, NC to Joyce Neal Parker and Warren (Buddy) Parker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Parker and Warren (Bud) Parker, Jr. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife, Kelly House Parker, of Pinetops; his three sons, Joshua Glenn Parker, of Greenville, NC, Matthew Blayne Parker, of Greensboro, NC, and Ian Warren Parker, of Pinetops, NC; his two sisters, Ann Parker Lane of Chocowinity, NC and Delma Parker Bass of High Point, NC; his brother-in-law Kevin House (Angie) of Marietta, OH; his mother-in-law, Sue Outlaw of Tarboro, NC; a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and his beloved dogs, Macy and Gracie.

In his teenage and early adult years, Thurman worked as a service mechanic for Farmland Tractor in Scotland Neck, NC alongside his brother, Warren. At the age of 29, he bravely ventured out on his own and established his farm machine repair business, Pickers Plus, Inc. God blessed him with the mind of a great mechanic and a workhorse mentality that was the driving force behind a successful career as a small business owner. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his boys. Depending on the season, he enjoyed the beach and snow skiing, watching TV and firing up the grill and listening to classic rock or old school country music. He loved a good prime rib, a cold Diet Sundrop and a Reese’s peanut butter cup. He celebrated like a child on snow days and birthdays. Thurman Glenn Parker would give you the shirt off his back and give away his last dollar to anyone that needed it more. He left his mark on all of us, each in its own special way.
