Rocky Mount –
Tommie Ann Thompson, 93, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 10, 2021. Tommie was a woman who quietly, sacrificially, and faithfully served her Lord and others. Tommie loved her family and always enjoyed opportunities to cook for them and the many visitors over the years. Tommie also enjoyed her hobbies as a seamstress and growing/arranging plants.
She was born to Lonnie and Betty Williams on December 13, 1927 in Nash County, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Thompson; son, Michael Thompson; daughter-in-law, Jan Thompson; sister, Pattie Jenkins; brothers, Bruce, Hoyt, and Roger Williams. Tommie is survived by her children, Mary Beth Terrill (Ward) of Rocky Mount, James Thompson of Rocky Mount, Martha Winstead (Tim) of Greenville, SC, and Robert Lee Thompson of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Jeremy Terrill (Sherry), Bethany Collins (Zac), Daniel Terrill (Bobbie Kay), Matthew Terrill (Laurin), Sarah Gillenwater (Kevin), Kimberly Carlson (Jeff), Hannah Love (Ransom), Elizabeth Godwin (Brandon), Timothy Winstead (Lauren), Rebecca Kimbrough (Luke), Olivia Shurbutt (Bryn), Chloe Hushon (Brett) and Anna Claire Thompson; great-grandchildren, Zach (Kayla), Lofton, Adelyn, Benjamin and Joshua Terrill, Sam and Drew Collins, Evelyn, Miles, Levi Gillenwater, Camden, Ava, and Rhett Love, Charlotte, Madeleine, and Louis Godwin, Brooks, Maddie Jane Winstead, Jack and Janie Carlson (with another one on the way); and several special nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 1:00 PM, at Pineview Cemetery, Rocky Mount. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.
