Walter Edward "Clyde" Parrish, age 82, passed away peacefully at his home Friday morning, August 20, 2021, with his loving family by his side. Clyde was a beloved husband, father, brother, papa, and dear friend. Clyde's journey began September 11, 1938 in Nash County, NC as the oldest of six children.  He loved his family and he loved his country, having served honorably in and retiring from the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Edward Parrish and Lonnie and Ruth Ellis Pollard; sister, Addie Ruth Joyner; son, Shawn Wiggins; and grandsons, Christopher Parrish, Josh Parrish, and Brandon Parrish.

He leaves a lifetime of wonderful memories for his wife of fifty-two years, Charlotte Pope Parrish; children, Brian and wife, Rachel Parrish of Rocky Mount, John and wife, Tina Parrish of Ohio, James and wife, Karen Parrish of Nashville, Joe and wife, Shelly Parrish of Ayden, Dale and wife, Renee Wiggins of Spokane, WA, and Leo and wife, Suzi Wiggins of Clancy, Montana. He was a big brother to siblings, Dettie Sue Proctor and Lonnie Pollard, Jr., both of Nashville, Virginia and husband, Tommy Page of Sharpsburg, and Wayne Parrish of Rocky Mount. He was a proud Papa and will be deeply missed by eighteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, family friends, and other extended relatives.

Please join family and friends for a special time to remember and celebrate Clyde's wonderful life; 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.
