Wayne Manning

Robert Wayne Manning, age 75, passed away suddenly on Friday December 13, 2024. He was born in Edgecombe County on October 2nd, 1949 to Joseph and Robin Manning, both deceased. He was also preceded in death, just this year, by his nephew Jeremy Lancaster.

Wayne was the husband of fifty-four years to Donna Lancaster Manning, who survives. In addition to his wife, survivors include his children, Jeff Manning (Alicia) of Scotland Neck and Ashley Woodruff (John) of Red Oak; siblings, Linda Cooke (Wayne) of Rocky Mount and Don Manning (Special Friend Ann Boyette) of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Zoey, Van, Chesney, Weston and Emery; nieces and nephews, Angie, Greg, Melissa, Scott, David, Jon, Melissa and Stephanie.

Wayne was always willing to help someone and find a good party. He enjoyed grilling, listening to music and hanging out with his “brothers”, Mike Radford and Randy Sutton. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1972. He retired from the utilities department at the City of Rocky Mount.

At this time, the family has decided to postpone his Celebration of Life. Details will follow soon.
