William "Bill" Hobday

Bill Hobday, age 90, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, May 25, 2024 at his home in Castalia, North Carolina. Bill was born in Washington DC to Herbert and Marjorie Unger Hobday. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Marie Hobday Kauffman and brother, Richard Hobday.

Bill served his country honorably in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He later continued a life of service as a dedicated officer with the Montgomery County (Maryland) Police Department, and more importantly, husband and father.

He leaves a lifetime of cherished memories for his beloved wife of sixty-seven years, Margaret "Jean" Henderson Hobday; daughters, Terri Pace and husband, John, and Kathy Hobday, all of Castalia. He was especially proud of his grandchildren, Mitchell Kauffman and wife, Alissa, Spencer Kauffman and wife, Allison, LeeAnn Pace Shelton and husband, Cooper, and Grant Turner and wife, Paige; and great-grandchildren, Kian and Rowan Kauffman, and Colin and Casey Kauffman.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
