William "Billy" Stephen Casper, 77, passed away on July 3, 2021, at Bryan Health and Rehabilitation in Scotland Neck.
He was born to Linwood and Esther Casper in Edgecombe County on October 13, 1943. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Marion Casper, Linwood "Odell" Casper, and infant brother, Jasper Casper.
Billy is survived by his wife, Mary Bridgers Casper; daughter, Geneva Casper Bryant (Mike) of Rocky Mount; son, Jason Casper (Amanda) of Enfield; sisters, Bettie Baggaley of Wilmington, and Diane Carter (Michael) of Richmond, Virginia; grandchildren, Mallorie Arrington (Christian), Ramzie Bryant, Kaylee and Cora Beth Casper. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Billy's greatest passion in life was reserved for his family. Billy was a good, loving, faithful husband and dad. He worked hard and treated others with honesty. The very words that guided his life was "work hard and treat others with honesty." In his professional career, he was a skilled machinist. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outside. Billy had a love for both fishing and camping. Many people will remember Billy for his love of gardening and tending his vegetables and working on cars and trucks. Billy befriended people all over the world through air waves / citizens band radio on his base station and was known as the "Silver Dollar". He will be greatly missed by his international friends.
Please join family and friends for a memorial service to celebrate and remember Billy's life at 3:00 pm, Friday, July 9, 2021 at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 700 West Howard Avenue, Tarboro. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 pm.
