Like many Americans, you’re probably carefully weighing the merits of cremation versus a traditional burial. While in 1958, less than 4 percent of Americans were cremated, the Cremation Association of North America estimates that over 50 percent will be cremated by 2018.

This substantial increase in popularity is due to significant changes in the religious expectations, geography, beliefs and families of many Americans. More affordable pricing and a certain level of flexibility in making final arrangements have also greatly contributed to this growth. So, before you make a decision, consider the ways that cremation may be an appropriate choice for modern adults making end-of-life plans.

What's In An Urn?

Urns come in many shapes, sizes, and materials. They can range in cost from under a hundred dollars to as much as a thousand, depending upon the material you choose.

In reality, you may already have the ideal container to safely house your loved one's remains. There is an endless variety of personal items that are great alternatives, such as jewelry boxes, figurines, favorite canisters, teapots, and the list goes on. While we always want families to feel comfortable with their personal decisions, we also encourage a practical perspective when considering the purchase of expensive items.
